Does anyone know why Mormons are technically not Christians? I have heard that it is because they don't believe that Jesus is God whereas Christians do believe that Jesus is God.

There are a lot of differences between Mormon and Christian beliefs. My boss is Mormon and lately we have been talking about the differences between Christianity and Mormonism a lot. Christianity's biggest and only infallible source of doctrine is the Bible. They believe that God never changes and that His word is the same throughout the ages. Mormons believe that God changes His mind and can add/subtract rules whenever the circumstance calls for it. Christians believe that all men are created equal and that everyone is equally sinful and deserves equal punishment. Mormons believe that God chooses men that have a different set of rules and are better/closer to God than others. These are just a couple, but they're certainly big differences.

Hmm, interesting.
Mormons sound like spiritual progressives. Changing the rules (like changing the Constitutional rules, or rather breaking them) if the "circumstance calls for it". lol sorry.
EDIT: But Glenn Beck is a mormon and a conservative. He contradicts himself. haha

Yup. But at least he isn't a faithless alcoholic like he used to be before he found God.

Haha yeah I think that's one of the main reasons I disagree with the Mormon religion.. I could never follow a God that changed his mind or wasn't absolutely consistent. If God isn't consistent and absolute in his decisions, he's no different from a human being with superpowers.

Nice information about Mormonism Ali! What about their sacred underwear? I have heard they have some sort of sacred underwear that they have to wear in the temple - could that possibly be true?

That sacred underwear is called garments and is only for those that are worthy for it, and only a small portion of those in the church actually wears it. The Main thing that people think that Latter-Day Saints arent christian, is that most beliefs that Latter-Day Saints believe in, arent the same. Actually they are the same, just with more beliefs than the normal church goer believes. Most people that are christian are raised to believe that God doesn't communicate any more with us, but in actuality he is still interested, and will communicate if we ask for help. Also, one thing that people think is weird, is the 10% Tithing. Not all of those in the LDS church does the 10% tithing (probably only 30-40% of those in the church pays tithing), but people still think it is weird. The reason why the LDS church urges a 10% tithe, is because the bible states a 10% tithe on all income (income is what you earn by working). I don't know why everyone thinks Latter-day Saints are weird, they just follow God better than most churches.

The main reason that people generally don't consider them to be Christians is because they don't believe Jesus is God, just a prophet. I believe that God still communicates with us; I know he does. If Christians think otherwise, they are sadly mistaken. And I don't think they're weird. My sarcasm might have come across as that, but I don't at all. I totally respect their beliefs.

Josh, you should send a pm to everyone :" <------ that smiley is the sarcastic remark smiley." Our neighbors were mormon, they were really nice, we even went to their Temple for "church" one time, it was about three hours long.

Actually, I believe it is called a chapel, in a church building that you went to for 3 hours, not a temple.

I know for a fact it is a Temple, and I think there is only one in MN too. Was your first remark sarcastic?

Depends on how you take it. It could be a church building, most have spires, just like a temple. If you give me your town name, I could do a search up of Church buildings in the area.

Nope, unless you get divorced though, then you can technically say you are a polygamist, and get away with it, because you had multiple marriages, but you are currently married to one person! ;D
