The Tea Party movement has been influential and controversial. It is conservatives who are tired of big government over-stepping their boundaries. They also believe that Republicans are not true conservatives anymore, just liberals and moderates in disguise. There are rumors that there might even be a Tea Party that candidates could run under, or that the Tea Party movement will try to essentially take over the Republican party with conservative values. There have been other rumors that Sarah Palin might run under the Tea Party rather than as a Republican, if she decides to run for President. Here's an article from the New York Times that is interesting: www.nytimes.com/2010/01/15/us/politics/15party.html?hpIs the Tea Party the future of the conservative movement, or just a phase that will fade away after time?

I think it will last a while, but only time will tell really. Over time if the government steps into more peoples' businesses then I'm sure this group will last.

Basically conservatives who are tired of big government, and tired of Republicans who aren't conservative any more.

It was a much better Government when the States had more power than the central government, wasn't it?

Yeah, arguably. There were problems between the different states when it came to uniting as one nation and having the same principles and things like that. But then we had the Constitution to do that, which basically said the new federal government would have limited power. That is when America was in its prime, arguably.
