This thread is a comment on Josh's comment, but anyone can participate in this thread. I am making a separate thread because I didn't want to hijack kepi's thread. I'm a little confused at what you're saying here. And if it's what I am thinking, then I respectfully disagree, but I won't comment on much until I fully understand what you're saying. By the first sentence ("If you are doing the right thing, then heaven is the result.") it sounds like you believe it takes works to receive Salvation. But then you go on to say "One can't earn heaven" which I agree with because it is by God's wonderful grace that you will receive salvation. Could you please clarify what you were saying? Thankies

Ok yeah, I worded it confusingly, sorry. I agree with you that one can't earn heaven by works. I should have said: "If you are doing the right thing, then heaven tends to be the result" by God's grace of course, because if you are doing the right thing, you are loving God, and it is in loving and accepting God into your life that he gives us the ultimate gift of heaven. What I was trying to say is that we don't do good solely to "earn" heaven, because we can't earn heaven. I do not believe, though, that we can get to heaven just by believing in God, or just from faith. If someone believes in God but rejects to follow in his paths, then that isn't truly loving God. James 2:17 says: "For faith without works is dead". We need to still do what is good, otherwise saying "Yeah, sure, I believe in God, and I love him, and have faith in him" is meaningless. Prove it: live as He wants you to. That's where the "If you are doing the right thing, then heaven tends to be the result" thing came from. Hopefully that clears things up a little...

Oh, I understand what you mean now, and I agree. Thanks for the clarification.
