Often I see techies debate about what Internet browser is the best in their opinion. Right now I'm using Ie8 due to a lagginess effect on my computer that firefox caused while I used it. I'll list my opinions as to what pros and cons each browser has that I have observed. FireFoxPros - It can be faster at loading websites then Ie, depending on what version Firefox and what version Ie you are comparing.
- There are different applications you may download to make firefox more enjoyable.
Cons - On my computer at least, it took at least 1 to 2 + minutes to load the browser right after booting my computer up.
- The pop up blocker does not do a good job.
- Some applications can slow down your browser or infect your computer (as not all apps are owned by FireFox).
Internet ExplorerPros - Good pop up blocker.
- Good Phishing filter.
- Easier to look through options and edit settings
- Content Adviser
Cons - The speed is a little bit slower then firefox while loading websites (depending on what Ie version and what FF version you are comparing)
- The browser takes a little time opening after the computer starts up, but not near as long as FireFox.
- Loads Java script or Java script/adobe videos slower (at least that is what I have observed).
What are your opinions? Debate away!

I prefer Firefox. Websites seem to look better in Firefox on my computer (this site, for example, looks much different and much worse in Internet Explorer), and Firefox has lots of cool add-ons. However, no popups come up at all, even when I want them to in Firefox (like if I click on something that's supposed to open a new window - it does nothing), so I'm not sure what's up with that....

Hmm...Odd. For me it was the exact opposite. I couldn't stop them from popping up. Maybe there's a setting somewhere that we are over looking..

Got me hooked on firefox now. It is quite a difference, and faster too.

For years I've switched from Internet Explorer to Firefox, back to IE and the Cycle begins again. There are always things that I find I don't like in both of these browsers, so it's only a matter of time that I find myself using firefox again. I also found out that firefox may have been laggy for me because I had low ram. I recently upgraded my ram and have not tried firefox again. I shall test this some time to see if firefox is any faster.

I prefer Firefox for a few reasons:
1. I don't need to have multiple windows open; instead I can have multiple tabs in a single window.
2. Better virus protection than IE, since it seems that many viruses are targeted specifically at IE and the Microsoft OS.
3. More universally compatible than IE
4. Much faster and cleaner.
As to the windows popping up/not popping up issue, it's probably a setting under 'Tools' that's switched on or off, or may have something to do with the updates that are installed.

1.) The newer versions of Internet exploerer have tabs now too, but I'd have to say that sometimes switching between tabs makes Ie lock up. I haven't noticed this in firefox.

I hadn't noticed the tabs feature on the latest version of IE. My parents use a version of IE which doesn't have tabs, but it may not be the latest update.

I decided to give in and I now am using FireFox. So far the experience has been pretty pleasant - but there is one thing that I don't like off the bat. I can't press ALT+S to post now. It just goes to the history tab.
